Consultation
Deadline: 30th September 2019.
The consultation portal can be accessed here:
Council Consultation Portal
There is an email from the councils, which I can forward if required - my email address can be found by clicking under the About Me section on the right-hand-side of this page.
Relevant Sections
Areas of the consultation that I found relating to the layout of the Tendring/Colchester Borders Garden Community are as follows, let me know if you find other places:
1. Click 'Suggested Amendments to the Publication Draft Braintree, Colchester & Tendring Local Plans: Section One - July 2019', then 'Read and Comment on Document', then 'Cross Boundary Garden Communities', Policy SP8, Point A1.
Here is a link to this section: Cross Boundary Garden Communities (scroll-down to Policy SP8).
2. In the document 'Habitats Regulation Assessment North Essex Authorities Strategic S1 Local Plan', point 2.25, 4th bullet point.
Responding
The above two sections can be commented online, or by emailing, as described here:
How to Respond to the Consultation
Although the detailed layout of the communities is to be decided later, there is still text in the above areas which can be commented on now.
Here is one idea:
“Any new development to the East of Colchester should be over the brow of the hill and out-of-sight of existing residents of Greenstead and Longridge Park. There should be a 1.5km green, undeveloped buffer between current housing and any new development. This idea is supported by the Greenstead Ward councillors.
The buffer would provide important green space for residents of the large existing and new communities, preserve rich wildlife habitats and keep the important landscaping of this area intact.
Please review the online blog of the Colchester East Action Group, dating back to January 2014, for numerous ideas submitted to previous consultations.”
