CHEAG's Response

Here are the ideas submitted by Colchester East Action Group, feel free to use these, but please add your own ideas.

  • A 1.5km green buffer between Greenstead and Longridge Park and any new development. This is supported by the Greenstead Ward councillors.

  • Any new road in the area should incorporate noise shielding to prevent disturbance to residents from traffic noise.

  • Housing design in the new development should be comparable with the best in Colchester, photos sent to planners by CHEAG Colchester.
  • Houses in the estate should have compatible appearance.
  • All houses to have good-sized, natural, green front and rear gardens and there should be restrictions preventing them being concreted-over.

  • Fences in all gardens should incorporate hedgehog holes and the gardens should have other wildlife-friendly features.

  • The developers should contribute to the enhancement of Colchester town centre, including its historic buildings.
